Corfu (Kerkyra) is a picturesque Greek island located in the Ionian Sea, known for its beautiful beaches, lush greenery, and historic architecture. The island boasts a Mediterranean climate, with mild, wet winters and hot, sunny summers.

During the winter season, which lasts from December to mid-March, temperatures are generally mild, with average daily temperatures ranging from 9.5°C (49°F) in January to 14°C (57°F) in March. Rainfall is quite common during this period, especially in December and January, with up to 120mm (4.7 in) of rain per month. However, there are still a good number of sunny days, and outbreaks of cold air from the Balkan Peninsula can bring cold and windy days, with possible slight frosts at night. Snowfall is possible in inland hills.

Springtime, from mid-March to May, is mild and pleasant, with gradually decreasing rainfall and an increasing number of clear, sunny days. May is a particularly beautiful month on the island, with pleasant temperatures before the onset of summer heat.

Summer, from June to August, is hot and sunny, with average daily temperatures ranging from 25°C (77°F) to 31°C (88°F), and sometimes reaching 35/36°C (95/97°F), especially in July and August. Fortunately, sea breezes provide some relief from the heat, and the waters of the Ionian Sea are warm and perfect for swimming. Autumn, from September to November, is also mild, with some hot days in September and increasing rainfall as the season progresses.

The amount of sunshine in Corfu is abundant during the summer months, with blue skies and sunshine prevailing, but there are still plenty of sunny days in the spring and early autumn. From October to March, the island experiences fewer sunny days, with alternating periods of good and bad weather.

For those seeking a beach holiday, the best time to visit Corfu is from June to August, although the weather is still pleasant in the first half of September. If you plan to explore the island on foot, the best time to visit is from mid-April to mid-June, to avoid the high summer heat.
